Is laughing at Kwaï wrong or racist?

Someone PM'ed me and said it was racist for me (and others) to laugh at
Kwaï chang caïne's English language posts. I can't believe they're serious!
They even went so far as to say I'd be killed if I laughed at certain races
in another country, and burned at the stake. So, let's see if I'm wrong.

So, am I (and others) wrong to laugh? Kwaï doesn't seem offended, and
even his sig shows he's at ease with it all. If other people are offended,
why do they need to PM me and tell me off? Argh!

I always find it's worse to correct people, I mean when I get grammar wrong and someone calls me on it, it really just ticks me off that someone out there thinks I should care .

I think it's fine to laugh at 'irregular' English as long as it's in the right context. I'm sure he doesn't mind making people laugh, just like he would most likely laugh at our attempts at his primary language. It's not like people are laughing at the way he speaks as well, that's a completely different and darker thing altogether - we're just finding it amusing, like looking at LOL cats. I mean, imagine if cats laughed at our silly attempts to communicate with them!.

Next time someone tells you they are offended, try telling them you are offended at them assuming it has anything at all to do with race. We're just as likely to laugh at a kid learning English and getting something wrong, in the same mindset that should be considered ageism no?.

If we didn't have a little laugh and simply corrected them, then that would be arrogance, I know what I'd rather have in a response to one of my posts.

I suspect his knowledge (and use) of English is far better than that of most who speak it as their native language. It takes skill and knowledge to do what he does.

"racist" is the absolute BULLSHIT word to call this!

if it was meant as offence and felt as offence by Kwai, "mobbing" would be the correct term.

since we do it in a "loving" way and Kwai takes it this way, it's even no "mobbing",
but kind of "joking at each other like family members do".

It's completely up to Kwai to tell us when he doesn't like it, and from the way he again and again invokes the joking himself, I don't think he has a problem with it.

I'm not going to name anyone due to respecting their privacy. A private

If someone is making his best effort to communicate on a foreign language, why laught on him?

For me the rule (not in languages, but in everything) is very simple:

If the guy is maing a joke, then laught, IF NOT, its bad manners to laught on someone.

I use that rule on my daily living.

We must take note that the english words we read from KCC are generated through an online translator. To ME, that is where the humor comes from. I too have laughed at some of KCC's posts. In no way way am I laughing at KCC the person. I respect him as a human being and admire him for his sense of humor.

@PB: I see nothing racist in laughing at the posts by KCC. He takes pride in being the forum Jester and he does a fantastic job of bringing humor to the PureBasic community.

Kwai pokes so much fun at himself that it is difficult not to break out in hysterics every time I read one of his posts! Indeed, I look forward to his posts. His English may not be the best in the world, but it is a damn sight better than my French or German or Chinese or Spanish ... or English!

We have plenty of white middle-class 'do gooders' over here who are always jumping on the racist band-wagon claiming that 'this' or 'that' is offensive to black people etc. The first people they usually offend are the ones they seek to 'defend' as, generally speaking, people are more than capable of sticking up for themselves.

Dare I venture to metion the classic 'gollywog' doll which causes so much offense amongst the aforementioned middle-classes over here? It's a flaming childs toy for heaven's sake; always has been, always will be. Anyone who wants to read anything more into it than that is nuts (in my un-educated opinion! ) I don't see anyone moaning about increidble-hulk toys; that's offensive to green people surely!
