Powerful sound library for Linux

Post by Olby »

Hi,

I am not very well known with Linux, but my plans are on creating a cross platform audio software. So now I wanted to find a nice but powerful sound library which might also have a MIDI support. MIDI is less problematic as it is not something that I cannot understand and code my self. On the other hand audio handling, WAV loading, playing, parameter setting, etc., etc. is something that might come in handy to speed up the development. So far I have found only a few game specific sound libs but I need something more powerful. Does someone of you can point me to any of those libs out there. If it only works for Linux it might come in handy too but I wanted something that can work with PureBasic both with Windows and Linux thus removing the hassle of recoding the audio handling side for each platform. Thanks!

Thanks, those are great. I will look more carefully into them.
