Great work guys, the logos look great :D.

Here's the updated graphic (click image to download zip file, both old and new versions included):

@RZ: Thanks for the tip about the text contrast.

No offense to anyone who's posted art but I wouldn't mind paying into a small pool of funds to go towards a professional job.

I agree, there should be something official that fits with the logos we use. If its totally different, its hard to make the connection to the real logo/product. We will create something you can use.
In the meantime, please use something that is as close to the original logo as possible (simply the normal logo with a "powered by" above or something is probably best).

Don't know if you are being honest here so may I ask what a "professional job" looks like? I know that I quite hit the nail with my first two drafts since they are very close to the orginal. So I would like to know what is missing here. Is it the graphical aspect or is the CI not matched? What should be in the logos we make and what not?

First let me say, I won't critize any of the graphical concepts made here no matter if the are good or bad. It shows the users passion about PureBasic and that people are willing to do almost anything to help the product rise in popularity and sales.

Second, I don't think the logos are "that way off" from the actual concept (if there is any). The PB logo as well as the website need a big graphical facelift anyway. I mean the original logo is neat if you consider it's done in a couple of minutes. Back then it has been made in a hurry by some programming geeks (meant positively) and so the result is really fine if you consider that fact. But if you look closley it's just the products name written in "Impact" with two poor made up cog wheels. So it's a little too much to ask for "professional" logos that should match "the actual concept".

That's exactly what I did. In fact, it's the same logo just spiced up and with a "powered by" slogan added. Once again, I need to know what "is as close to the original logo" but doesn't look like something made in MS Paint back in 1998?

It doesn't matter if you think the original logo is "hype" enough or not. If you make your own different logo, then thats your logo and not the PureBasic one. If you want to refer to PureBasic, then why design your own logo and not use the one of the product you refer to ? If the logos differ, it will make it harder for people to make the connection. Why do you think companies care so much about the corporate design ?

So, if your purpose is to help spread the word about PB, then use the real logo so people can recognize it on the PB website for example. If you just want to show your great graphic skillz then don't use the PureBasic name for that.

Perhaps it's time to change the original logo Freak?

Fluid Byte's & Inf0Byt3's are both suitable for forum and website logos (with minor tweaks) and in product logo's... and just replacing a couple of image on your website and job done.

your business Identity remains intact, everything gels together and it all fits together and looks good.

Just my couple of cents worth :)

There are guidelines. The PB team decides what the official logo is for PB and how it can be used. Thats a guideline. An understandable, neat, clean, definitative, not confusing, to the point, guideline. :) The PureBasic logo belongs to PB.

In the USA a logo is part of a trademark. Having multiple 'un official' logos can lead to a dilution of your trademark. Powered by PureBasic could come to mean anything or nothing.

Fred needs to approve the logo.

Although I know there will never be any official "powered by" logos for PB as long as I live I made two more for the sake of entertainment ... :P
