Forum search

Post by sospel »

Hello !

I have a question concerning the "search" function for topics in the forums of PureBasic:
for example I want to find all the topics with the word "console".
The result is: 863 topics with the quasi-totality of the topics which concern other things than "console" (ex: HTTP, FTP, XP skins, ...) :(
So, how make to select only the topics which have the word "console" in their title ??
Thanks for answer(s) !

I have seen other PHPBB2 forums with a 'Search message title only' option but the PB board does not have it.

I made a post about this at one point but freak said that the PB forum doesn't have an option for it. Maybe it's in an update?

Other PHPBB2 forums do have this option:

Sometimes it's very useful if we have an option like that specially in a programming forum with many questions.....

I've complained about it too! :P

I agree 200%, I was trying to find if people were talking about perf issues with the Len() proc. Well, it's in a LOT of code but very few titles.

Time to revive that offline forum app I was playing with 6 months ago, that was scraping the subject fine.

Google is your friend! Did you know Google can search site titles? Put this into
Google's search field...

Code: Select all

allintitle: console site:http://www.purebasic.fr/english/
...and you get 6 topics listed with "console" in the title, instead of 863 topics. :)
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

Hello ,
thanks to PB post on Wed Oct 22, 2008 and his Google search !!
I don't know but this is very good ... and I've only 6 answers vs 863.
This resolves my problem :)
