If Fred got 10,000 sales overnight, then why do we assume that PureBasic
would become better? Wouldn't Fred just retire to Hawaii or something and
we'd never get updates again? :)

maybe for you....

for me it would not be nice, I would hate it and put the project in the trash because of such a stress.
no further development, just getting the cash from it and forgetting about the rest
because I would not have the nerv to deal with that mess.

... you see, two contrair points of view ...
and non of us can speak for Fred.

never. NEVER! laugh about people just because having a completely different point of view!

... or should I laugh about you because you don't seem to see how much a calm mind is worth much more than any money?

I already said that the PB team had to decide and that it's not always good to gain attention.

Why not? Just go ahead, I don't care.

Do you actually now what I was laughing about?
To sell 10.000 copies of PB over night is more than just unrealistic.
It takes years to sucessfully solicit a product AND you always retain
full control.

Oh and "NEVER EVER" talk to foreign people like you just did. You know
nothing about me and I think anyone can be asking for a little respect.
Thank you.

This must be why he made a mistake by using the word "foreign" instead of stranger :P

No. I told you what I laughed about. Certainly not you. I don't even know you, why should I laugh about you?

EDIT: Beside that, I laugh about whatever I want to. You should do so as well.

Phenomenon of low popularity PureBasic :?

Post by Morlet Eric »

I installed PureBasic a month ago. I love it. It's a jewel.

To get the attention it deserves, PureBasic needs (in my humble opinion):

1) a "Killer Application": a "jaw dropping" app that is awesome and that illustrates the great features of the system.

2) this app should access the Internet.

3) to somehow take distance from "Basic". There are lots of prejudiced people who will reject anything that is related to Basic (they 'll say: "oh yes: Basic = 1964 ... Dartmouth College ... Kemeny & Kurtz. No, thanks"). Perhaps you could offer the same system (a clone) under a new name.
(Organize a contest for the new name selection).

4) annouce an "Education program": offer free/discounted limited versions of the system to the world of Education. They need you, you need them in the long term: students will like the system, use it at home and later introduce it in their work environment.
