Editing PDF files

Post by superjacent »

Can someone point me in the right direction. Is it possible, using PB, to edit PDF files. What I'm wanting to do is simply whack some text in either the header or footer area of the document.

Thanks for replies and I've briefly checked out PurePDF.

I use Foxit, is heaps better than Acrobat, quicker and smaller.

To expand a little further, what I'm wanting to do is in batch fashion, edit pdf files residing in a particular directory. The process would be to open each pdf file and insert text, eg. "Item 001", "Item 002" etc. The cycling though a directory and opening files should not be a problem, it's the actual editing of the pdf file that I'm unsure about.

For simple one-off editing jobs, yes, I'd use Foxit or similar software.

Checking out PurePDF, I can't see anywhere a reference to opening a file for editing.

Editing on PDF files is very hard.

Sometimes it's impossible due to
a)Text on each page can be defined as image.
b)Data can be compressed.
... (and some others)

To document, see

If edited PDF files are created by you (using PurePDF or some other), I advise you to use PDF version 1.3, it's the simplest and can be edited by your own programs.
