Pac-Revenge ... Need idea help.

I've been working on a little game that is a remake of Rodents Revenge. For now, I'm doing this in Linux using SDL and will port to Windows when done and it'll be open source.

For those of you who don't know Rodents Revenge it's an old windows 3.1 game where you're a mouse and you push blocks around to trap cats. When the cats are trapped the "sleep" until all cats on the screen are captured. At this point the cats turn into cheese and you collect them for points.

My remake is using PacMan as the mouse and Ghosts as the cats. The idea that I had was to make the ghosts turn blue when they are "sleeping" and then turn into cherries when they are all trapped. I think I may ditch that idea because a cat can wake up if it's not trapped anymore and blue ghosts represents that they are edible in PacMan games. My second idea was to have no difference between the "sleeping" and regular animation and have them either turn to cherreis or go blue.

I'm kinda stumped on what to do here, any ideas?

PS: I'm also thinking about adding a doctor mario remake with the same graphics as well.

I played in Linux my first time...

The Dr. Mario sounds like a better idea... and you could have Wario come out randomly and free a cheese...

And you could include SniperKitty

What??? There's cheese in Dr. Mario, or Wario for that matter? Can you elaborate on that idea?

The AI is just about done (except what to do when trapped, which is my origional question). Right now as you can see the ghosts turn blue (edible) when trapped but it's deceiving, I think, cause they can't be eaten 'till they are all trapped like in Rodent's Revenge. Do you think they should stay regular until all are trapped then turn to blue, or do you think they should turn into cherries seeing as how the cats in RR turn into cheese? Anyone want to give me their 2 cents worth on what they think I should do here?

Also, like in PacMan games, when you go off the screen you come back on the other side, You can push the blue blocks off the screen and they'll appear on the other side too.

There are only 2 sprites the regular ghost animation and they are grey scale images. The game colors them, it also colors the pushable blocks to what ever color is listed in the level file. This procedure, that uses the overlay concept, will be explained when I release the source... Neat huh?

I'm also thinking about adding a Push Push (nokia title) type game where you have to cover certain tiles with blocks or whatever, like Penguin Push (look it up). When I get that far, I think I'll come back asking for level designs.
