So don't cry until your prices go over 8$
Bt Houston is the 4th largest city in the USA. And the largest city in the world without a cheap and reliable form of public transportation.
When I lived in Mexico, I had my 1991 Suburban 4X4 with the 45 gallon gas tank, a 352 HP Chevy Black Tie 350 and the H4 hydraulic Transmission. 12MPG
I paid about US$ 8.50 per gallon.
But I barely used the car, I could walk or take a taxi cheap or take the subway.
Mexico City was cool because of the taxi and the subway... I could get around for much less than the gas cost.
Mazatlan was cool as I could walk almost anywhere or take a taxi for much less than the gas cost. I barely drove... filled up about 1 time in 4 months.
Before you have no sympathy, remember that the il companies did this to us. They bought up all the streetcards (except NY, New Orleans, Chicago, and San Francisco) and CLOSED THEM so people would HAVE to drive.
Before you throw pity out the window, do you own a car? How do you get to college or work? What is the cost to you for that trip?
I have driven in Europe. I didn't notice any fools on the road concerned abut gas... in Italy it seemed the speeding laws were suspended. In Germany off the autobahn, people were (I swear) driving pedal cars (cars you pedal like a bicycle) and ON the autobahn... Apparently the slow lane really does not exist.
{My 190e loved it though... That car was born to run!)
Down here in the South we have no train network like up in Yankeeland... We can't live in Huntsville and commute every day for cheap on Amtrak to Houston like people living in Connecticut can do if they work in New York City.
In Saudi Arabia gas has gone up to $0.44 US$ a gallon. You tell me who you should be smug at!
As far as Euro gas prices... You can blame the local oil companies as well... I believe BP is British Petroleum... They have a fantastic profit margin in Eu.
If we have to pay more... what do you think YOUR prices are going to be set like.
{{{ EDIT BECAUSE OF POPULAR FALLACY }}}
first stealing the land from the redindians, now complaining it's too big...
Point of order Mr. Chairman...
The native Americans had NO CONCEPT of private ownership. They didn't OWN the land. They really never settled ANYWHERE on the land. They were Hunter Gatherers...
Some of them got greedy and agreed to sell land to the newcomers. It does not matter at what rate. To them, the price was a fantastic richness, a wealth beyond dreams.
It does not matter that they made a bad deal. They made a deal.
Later, they decided they wanted more for the land. We had a war. They lost. We conquered the territory.
It is ours.
Unless you agree that you shuold hand back portions of France to the Gauls, and large chunks of GB to the Britons and Woads... And Ireland should go back to no one because that was who was originally there. In fact, if you believe the junk about human Creationism or Religious Darwinism... It doesn't matter. You would ALL have to leave where you are and head back to the cradle of civilisation.
Nope... no argument... non-sequiter... All logic about who owns the land can be traced back to NO ONE OWN THE LAND, unless they can keep it!
