A much better .bsp map with textures from Quake 3. Flames on torches not working, but this has to do with texture missing not OGRE 3D engine. The lighting in the .bsp map looks great and the walls textures and lighting is incredible.

I can't believe how great this looks Fred, excellent job! You the man! I'm running a 512K RAM 1.8 Ghz AMD Athalon processor and it is very fast. The OGRE 3D Engine is plenty fast.

You can get the .bsp map with textures and PureBasic file that loads it at:

Hi LJ,

nice to have some people here playing around with OGRE! The only things i've seen so far were made by Danilo or Fred himself! The BSP support is a quite advanced feature in OGRE. The only drawback is, that someone has to write a PVS (BSP) - compiler for it, or you have ot pay license fees to id-software, if you want to take money for your game!

The bsp support is very useful for first-person-games. A lot genres don't need this. It think Fred should add terrain support to Purebasic. There are a lot terrain variations coming to OGRE and if mature solution is there, i think he'll add it. So we only have to wait until it will be included!

You can do lot's of games with terrain like Racers, RPG etc.

So everybody keep going using OGRE! The more use it the better is the support! I think it's very motivating for the developers to see that people are using it and are doing cool stuff with their work!

Bye!

Hi THCM

Right. I remember reading somewhere that the BSP format is just the first one Fred has added to the OGRE engine. This had alot to do with wanting to test the engine himself with his Quake 3 BSP maps.

I'm hoping that another map format is available that doesn't have the royalties issues that BSP does that Fred implements next and that also has commercial authoring software available that rivals BSP map authoring software.
