[Implemented] 4.20b1 Use standard menus in IDE
Can there be an option added to use standard menus and not try to use Office appearance or anything like that? The new menus are ugly at best and obscure the icons at worst.

If you paint your butt blue and glue the hole shut you just themed your ass but lost the functionality.

Let freak write the iconmenu library! You can turn off the whistles and bells alltogether by unchecking "show icons in the menu", but then you don't get the icons either.
Edit: In addition to being very ugly, there are several things which are not working correctly with the new menu. See the bug report here: http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtopic.php?t=30332

Thanks Trond, I never spotted that section as I didn't think it would be in the "general" area of the prefs so I never payed much attention to that.Trond wrote:Let freak write the iconmenu library! No icons is fine by me :)

Well, I wouldn't say it is ugly, I like the idea of theming.
But I think the blue is just too strong. Make it a really light blue, and it looks fresh and cool and doesn't kill anyones eyes. I wouldn't like that all the work was in vain.
If you are in a generous mood, you could make the background color user - definable - but you don't have to

And this proves once again that true programers should be never involved in any design issues.Berikco wrote:Fred made the horrible blue gradient

Serious programers lack this ability completely wich you can often see on a developers (personal) homepage. Pink text on yellow background, loads of tables and pictures of the house cat in *.BMP format. That kinda stuff wich makes a homepage really fancy, you know?

By the way, the gradient ain't that bad but I agree on a flag to deactivate it.
Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit / Whose Hoff is it anyway?
