yes exactly.AND51 wrote:Ah ok, now I understand. SO this is not going to be a pure PureMessenger, but a messenger, that can also copy with other networks (MSN, Jabber, etc.)?Inf0Byt3 wrote:About the protocols, I have no idea which they really are, but MSN is included as much as I've heared.

Alrightie, so the new UI is ok? I mean it does have everything you say it needs. About the multi-account thing, I think it's better to have it like Gaim. That will help us have the code much better organised IMHO.

You can have one list and then use different icons for the different clients. If one is using MSN and is away for example then show the MSN away icon for that contact. And if one is using "xxx-client" than use the right icons for that client, etc.

Some suggestions.....
1)
The name..... 'Schmooze'
From Dictionary.com.....
Schmooze
v. intr.
To converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.
2)
Action Icons
3)
Connection Icon Bar - Click to connect, also shows status... grey icon shows you are not connected to network.....
4)
Tabs show groups with icons.
5)
Status icons - Available, busy, away, offline.....
Here's the changes to Inf0's GUI...

IMHO it really looks nice! I can achieve that design easily if you guys accept it. Oh and I was thinking... What if we add an area under the contact list that should hold a music player, weather forecast, web search?

I thought so too.....Inf0Byt3 wrote:IMHO it really looks nice!

As for too many icons.....
I can't think of an easier way to show the network status than an icon for each one, coloured or greyed out.....
If you don't have icons for add, delete, webcam, e-mail etc.... then you have to do it in a popup or menu, which is harder work than clicking one icon for common functions!
It's all a matter of taste, I guess.... but I think the icon way looks nicer and would be most popular with the masses..... it's got to look more attractive than other messengers and offer at least the same functions if people are going to want to use this instead.
On that note: We could do away with the menu at the top to make it look cleaner..... putting the menu functions in a popup instead ?!

Cant really see the point of an MP3 player - I already have an MP3 player that I like to use - isn't this how bloatware starts.JCV wrote:We should add this as plugins like YM.Inf0Byt3 wrote:What if we add an area under the contact list that should hold a music player, weather forecast, web search?
If you must have an MP3 player then it must tie into the *communicative* purpose of the messenger - ie: I play an MP3 and people can choose to listen to my music via the instant messenger. That would be cool. But yes - please make an optional plugin.
