Hello everyone!

I just want to introduce my self to this forum.
I discovered PureBasic this morning, I played with it for an hour and that was enough to convince me that this small but useful devtool was a "MUST" for me.
I ordered it online, and after a short time I had a full version installed. Thanks to Fantaisie Software for their fast response!

I'm working as an in depended developer and mainly use MS VSS .NET.
My two ongoing projects is Enterprise Web Application's, I guess someone can wonder why I need PureBasic on top of MS Dev. Studio?
Well MS VB.NET and C#.NET is powerful tools for typical large and scalable web apps, but more often do I need to write a small app with small print and runtime free.
It here I see the power of PureBasic, it create small print and seams extremely flexible with advance options (API, DB, Native DLL, etc.) and since my C Language is a bit rusty, it's will be easy for me to switch between MS .NET VB and PB.

The Second major reason is Linux support, personal I do not use Linux often, but it needed sometimes related to my projects; again a familiar language is the key here.
I have not tried this on Linux yet, but I will do my best to post my experience after I have tested a bit more.

Regards,
Richard Eikeland

I'm an MCSD. I also code in VB 6.0, and VS.Net. I make pretty good money writting apps in the Visual Studio platforms. The CLR for .Net is like a boat anchor. The whole .Net framework is just nothing but bloat, as far as I'm concerned. Don't know if you've noticed, but with .net Microsoft has gotten away from Native code compiling all together.

I'm just giddy about the power of PB. I love the fact that you can do multi-threading. VB.Net can do this, but have you ever tried to multi-thread a program in VB 6?

I've actually written a site monitoring app. using PB that's running on our web server here at work. Needed a small executable, and a reason to learn Pure Basic, while getting paid for it.

Hi Richard Eikeland and welcome. I am new to the PureBasic community also. Have only been using PureBasic for 2 days. My programming background is similar to yours. I like how you write about the advanced options such as compiling to a .DLL and API support. I think my favorite thing about PureBasic is the .exe size. I compiled a small program that was only about 20K, in other programming languages the same program would be over 750K! I look forward to reading your posts and questions as I'm sure the same questions you will ask are questions I would ask also being that we've both bought PureBasic at about the same time and are on the same learning curve.

Most other forums are dead or take a long time for anyone to give any kind of answer or input!
