McAfee SiteAdvisor

Post by PB »

I just found out about this site which tests other sites and their downloads.
Here's the report for www.purebasic.com :

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/purebasic.com

I like how you can go in and see what changes the apps make to your PC,
BEFORE downloading any of the apps! Very cool! And available as a Firefox
extension, too. :) Methinks this will be very handy.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

very nice extension :)
PureBasic 5.73 | SpiderBasic 2.30 | Windows 10 Pro (x64) | Linux Mint 20.1 (x64)
Old bugs good, new bugs bad! Updates are evil: might fix old bugs and introduce no new ones.

They need to test their own site:

Hmm, as of today it gives PureBasic.com a BAD rating:

And here's the Google results that it shows for me with the Firefox extension:

Remove the bad links, Fred -- it ain't good for PureBasic's reputation!

Actually my zonealarm too sometimes blocks a spyware website detected from pb forum. It blocks the site www.gratisweb.com from forum.

The 'problem' with PureBasic.com appears to be the reference link to the site for the game "Breaker", which is the referenced "bad" site.

Strange criteria!!

I found that a lot of sites that should be with red flag are showed as trusted.

This kind of strange criteria will make that people stop believing on this advisors.

It's not a daily check which is why the snapshot of the site at the time will be
good or bad. But I think it's in Fred's best interests to NOT link to any other
sites that ever had a bad reputation, as you never know when SiteAdviser
will make the next snapshot. For a newbie, seeing the red cross will make
them scared of visiting PureBasic.com, for no real valid reason.
