PureBasic 4.00 Beta 1 for MacOS X

Post by Fred »

Hi there,

There is not that much news for this version but as we get very few feedback we decided to go in beta stage now. Use the regular bug section to report the problems found on OS X. It is available on your online account.

Have fun !

Thanks for the release! Something to test on my new MacBook :)
Does this run natively with Intel Macs or does it run through Rosetta or is this an Universal binary? Thanks!
Cute?

Any news about the Intel Macs? I'm getting a new MacBookPro soon and I want to have PureBasic for that.

Any news on Mac version at all? There are some bugs, already fixed - some are open. When can we expect a new beta or final release (hopefully 4.1 or greater)?

Just got my macbook pro yesterday and I bummed that there isn't a native OSX intel version. Blitzmax is up and running but that doesn't help me write apps.

We are planning to move to a 4.10 beta for mac soon. I am the one holding
things back a bit right now because i have to implement the Drag & Drop lib for OSX first.

As for the x86 version, you probably shouldn't hold your breath for that one.
Our priorities are more focused on Windows/Linux right now.
(Mostly because of the poor response we got so far on the OSX releases.)

Hmm - eventually the userbase might grow if there would be an x86 mac Version altho i have no idea how complex the conversion would be - so thats up to you anyway. :)

But something id really be interested in ( since the libs are there ) would be a LinuxPPC version - how hard would that one be to convert?

Thanks and keep up the GREAT work! :)

It's very sad to hear the Intel Mac version isn't coming for a while :?
That way you will lose users that go the Mac way rather than satisfying the people already using an (PPC) Mac.

It's really disturbing: while more and more software is coming for the Intel Mac (even games: Quake Wars, Unreal 3 engine games, id tech 5 engine games, ...) and BlitzMax supports it out of the box (even Universal binaries actually) PureBasic seems to become a Win/Lin only language. Who will be interested in PPC support next year, most will have an MacTel by then.
