How on earth they get a clevo for that amount of money is out of my imagination, except if they get the cabinet only from them
It can be so... If it is a scam it's very reckless of them - going out to all media and so.

Probably much the same way as Alienware? When Alienware changed their case design they sold the excess stock of cases off for a discount, so from then on you saw alot of 'alienware' pc's.

Ok, i got cold feet and i've just rang 2Checkout.com and cancelled my order. The guy there said he had been dealing with people ringing all night to cancel orders. I guess these people are exactly like me. You order a laptop, then read more about the company in tech blogs, etc. then get influenced by the negative hype and cancel! lol . I'll give it a week or two then see if the company has fulfilled any orders, if everythings ok i'll place my order again. :)

EDIT: as a side note, no-one has had any bad experiences with Medison, but there just seems to be negative hype. ??? weird.

but I'll guess they got their money back? Rumors, rumors... It's sad if a Internet Hype of bad rumors kill a company that really tries something like this, but then again... the Internet is "scamly" place. I won't cancel my order, just hope for the best!
[EDIT]
If it is a scam, I'll take the fight with VISA!

Seems like the general consensus on SlashDot is that it's a scam. I did find an inexpensive laptop from Asus coming out soon:

About $200 - but it does not have the stats like the one being discussed here. It would be a great travel companion though - only 2lbs.

Good luck.. If you read the link from Sweclockers I posted before someone already contacted Visa and asked them about this. They will not refund your money if it's an obvious scam, which they would rate this case as.

I'm leaning more and more towards scam. First I though that the price was too low, that $200 or even $300 would have been more believable if it was a scam. But now it seems they had it just right.. Almost everyone thinks: "I'll go ahead and order it, after all, if it is a scam it's only $100 so it's worth the risk"..

I don't think it is a obvious scam when all Swedish newspapers has the news at the front page and when the factory really exists. Well, we just have to wait and see I'll guess... 8)

They just might be doing OEM from China. Which might explain why Clevo and Medison both look the same. They might be buying from the same plant in China or something.

12 years ago, I bought a no brand laptop from china which was shipped to the US where they just drop in the CPU, stick a logo on it an voila, instant computer manufacturer. The key is marketing and exposure, not product. Medison seems to be ahead in the marketing/exposure area though....

Clevo not buys from an OEM ... Clevo "IS" the OEM.
Clevo is the one of the largest (if not already THE lagest) Notebook producer world wide and they nearly sell all of their products as OEM.

So there is now wonder, that the Medison looks like a Clevo - there is a nearly 100% chance that it IS a Clevo.
But even if it is a Clevo, I still wondering about the Price, because I also own a Notebook originaly build by Clevo (branded as "Cyberbook") for about 2.800€ - so even a Clevo costs its money.

But the prices for Notebooks have gone down like hell within the last months. And if even Asus will come up with a 199$-Notebook, Clevo could be able to beat this price by 20-30%.
So I be anxious to see what will happen.

One of Sweden biggest newspaper Aftonbladet had a new article about Medison today.

http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/pryl/stor ... 00,00.html

Aftonbladet has done an interview with Valdi Ivancic, CEO of Medison and he says (the most important things IMHO);

"Everone will get their computer!"

"If they haven't recieved the computer within three months, they will get their money back."

"Money will not be drawn from the buyers account until the buyers computer is shipped."
