The only thing I don't like about these virtual desktops is that all your data
is at the risk and disposal of the hosting site. That said, it will never become
mainstream because nobody will EVER risk their data to third parties. And
even if it's free now, they could charge later, and you'll be forced to pay to
access your data (think Yahoo and POP3 access). All too risky. A local OS is
the only safe, secure option for those who care about their data.

And one other bugbear: what good is a virtual desktop if it can't be accessed
from everywhere? I can't access this site from work, so again it's of limited
use to me. This sort of thing would also have to be addressed to have any
chance of becoming mainstream.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

5 seconds to bring a window to front? I don't think I will use that.

Impressive, thanks for sharing!
Good programmers don't comment their code. It was hard to write, should be hard to read.

Im just impress on the capabilities of ajax showed by this website. It mimics the windows desktop and thats impressive for me. And it can run meebo, browser, mail, etc inside. I guess they are maximizing the potential of ajax.
Very cool. 8)

BTW, whats the limit of ajax?

AJAX is 'Asynchronous JavaScript and XML' otherwise known as 'DHTML which loads stuff in the background'. It's been around for ages but never really caught on until somebody gave it a cool sounding name and used it as a buzzword in industry.

And to think that all those years ago we were happy thinking how personal computer (not necessarily IBM PC) will finally give us complete control. Away from mainframes and remote overseers. Looks like we are making a full circle. From slavery to freedom and back to slavery...

I think that the fame of Ajax comes more from the RIA (Rich Internet Application) like this one and that concept, if not new, become a reallity not much time ago.

now you're right the access is locked since a day or two.

i hope this is only for some days (maintenance or so...)
