He's going to charge 40 bucks for this?

Some people have no shame...

Good work nevertheless....

PB seems good at attracting people who are looking to rip off others..

PS: If anyone wants simple icons in their menus without having to be ripped off by some dude.

http://www.purebasic.fr/english/search.php?mode=results
Search: "menu icons"

Also notice: "Added new Office XP style menus!"

Yet that was released in tricks and tips a few days ago...

Heathen: This release has been in the works for months, thats hard months of programming a reliable and professional system that is totally compatible with themes and adapts to system settings and looks good! You're paying for the quality and ease of use. This system has been wrote from the ground up and not some dodgy port of vb code! If you think I'm ripping people off why don't you check some of the prices for competing products? I've had nothing but praise from my registered users and ProGUI is still in it's beta with more and more new features being added. I'm just trying to earn some money from my hard work, how is this being ripped off by some dude?!? I'm not forcing people to use my product. You can trial ProGUI out and if you release a commercial product with it then you have to register, I don't work for nothing??

It was my opinion. You are trying to sell us code which can be found in examples all over this forum (for $40 dollars?).. You don't work for nothing, that's your choice, just don't be surprised though when you get reactions like this from passionate indie coders who don't consider programming 'work'. These are the people who you are trying to make your sales off of afterall.

No, I'm not selling code that can be found all over this forum. Like I said, ProGUI was written from the ground up and has been in development for over a year. I originally wrote ProGUI for use with my file sharing program DCC Manager. I'm a student and enjoy doing this as a hobby, the only way I can continue to do this and help other programmers and afford to pay the bills is if I charge for my work. £20 is very reasonable and is only a cheap night out for a few drinks here in the UK. The minimum wage is £5.55 an hour.

$40 is a bit steep for this, $20 is more in order, but that is my opinion based on my 28 years of programming. Your target audience seems to be the PB community, many who are hobby coders, or just small time guys trying to crank out some decent shareware.

To put this in proper perspective, your little lib is $40 which is almost half the cost of PureBasic which is $100.

I am one of those. I work for nothing and only release freeware. I program because I love it  Still, he is free to charge whatever he wants for it, that is his right. He just shouldn't get his panties in a wad if some people think it is overpriced.

Reminds me of when the guy in the Blitz community was asking questions on how to do stuff in BMax and took all the code people posted to show him and took existing code from the archives and other posts and slapped his name on it and a $55 price tag (Around half the price of BMax) and sold it as his "Game Framework". I am not saying, accusing or implying that is what this guy did! I believe him 100%! Just saying your comments reminded me of what happened over at Blitz.

Hey guys, lighten up a bit. He's put a lot of work in it. let the market determine what it's worth. The fact that you might not pay that for it is one thing. Calling it a rip off is something else altogether.

cheers

And it will, if everybody thinks $40 is too much, he won't sell any copies and will have to reconsider his pricing strategy....

...only time will tell.

Since you are sounding off... You are in OZ, right? Would you pay 48 AUD for this?
