If it were me, I'd probably toss that holder as unnecessary and just use the usual four screws in the back.

Tranquil wrote: The E6700 will then have the same price as the E6600 for now. So my eyes will fall on this processor. Quad-Cores are nice but even not supported yet and quiet expensive. The E6700 is fairly a good choice for that amount of money.
The Intel prices drops!!! :D :D as "you" predicted, but I haven't decided for a E6600 or E6700 yet. According to some forums, I wouldn't gain so much with E6700 in combination with ASUS Commando motherboard.

The prices in Sweden are,

* E6600 €215
* E6700 €295

at the moment... a 25% drop in three days. I'm going to wait a couple of days more, before I order my E6600 or E6700.

(The Antec P182 case is impossible to get in Sweden now. Not one seller has it in stock - have to wait a couple of weeks... :cry: :cry: )
[EDIT]
Found one dealer with P182, so I will have my case on thursday or friday... :D :D

ASUS?!?!?! Just pray you never need tech support, I had some of their stuff before and found their tech support non-existant.... so I got rid of their stuff and vowed, "Never again!"

Well, then I turn to the local dealer... :lol: Haven't you seen computer stores lately? :wink: 50% of the stuff are labled "ASUS".

Motherboards, fans, LCD Monitors, DVD burners, Laptops... everything...

AND they actually have a local Swedish Technical support in Stockholm Sweden.

Well, now I have ordered the last stuff and I should have it on my desk on friday... :D :D

The final configuration where,

* Asus Commando, P965, Socket-775, 4xPCI, ATX, 2xGbLAN, SATAII, Firewire, PCI-Ex16
* Asus GeForce 7600GS 512MB DDR2 Silent, PCI-Express, Tv-Out/DVI-I/HDTV, Retail
* Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 2048MB CL5 Kit w/two matched CM2X1024A-6400 Dimm's
* Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Socket LGA775, 4MB, BOXED w/fan
* Samsung SpinPoint T166 400GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM
* Corsair Powersupply 520W, 120mm fan, 4xSATA, ATX/EPS, 2xPCI-E, 20/24pin
* Samsung DVD-burner SH-S183A SATA Black OEM
* Antec Performance One P182 Miditower Gun Black Metal

The motherboard and the PSU was really expensive, but I became "in love" with the motherboard "post LCD" - and I know that the PSU fits in the case and is compatible with the motherboard... so... Well, now it's just to wait... :cry:

First Impression

ASUS mobo :cry: Must say the packaging where really bad, no sealing whatsoever, the manual was crumbled and the back panel looked like h*ll. But the motherboard seems okey.

Corsair PSU :D Really, really good packaging - all the stuff "smells" quality. Impressive!

Intel CPU :D Well, it's Intel and it was package the Intel way (even a "Intel Duo Core" sticker where included (of course)) :lol:

Thermaltake Hardcano 13 :D A bargin! Got it for €19 at a local store. Very good packaging and manuals.

techjunkie, if you want that stuff professionally assembled and configured, just send it to me and I'll be happy to do it for you. Once it's nicely burned in after a few months, I'll ship it back to you all tested and ready to go. (if I don't lose your address)

You wish!! :lol: No, I'm been waiting for this day a long time. I have taken a extra vacation day from work tomorrow and will fulfill my needs. Hehe... (and I have had some beer and wine now, so I'll don't think I will mount the CPU (or gf) tonight! :wink: :twisted:

Update of Techjunkies Adventures in the Overclockers fantastic World

ASUS Supreme.FX soundcard :cry: Looks like someone has spilled a tube of glue on the back of the PCB.

ASUS mobo :cry: Three of the electrolytic capacitor are so bent, so you can't fit anything in some contacts (have to bend them back).

Otherwise everything is OK! :D

I've had several Asus mobo's and never had any problems with them-- I've had Asus graphics cards too. Only problem is that the beta drivers for them are really BETA drivers hehehe. unstable as hell. I think most developers would call them pre-alpha.

Nope! I buy all my stuff on-line. (I'm visually handicapped and can't drive so for me, on-line is just a whole lot more convenient)

That was my experience with with ATI's non-beta drivers, never had that problem with nVidia...

Try getting an nvidia 7300se and running that on the latest driver (not latest beta), the amount of problems I had were unbelievable.

Someone here pointed me to a new beta that was actually quite hard to find and that sorted it out but for a while I was going to get rid of the card.

Saying that, I probably still will because it is crap!! :lol:
