Hi
Im testing Vista and found that many programs dont run until i run it by right click and run as administrator.
Is there any trick to avoid this?
In fact even apps that i code my self gives me this problem, so i guess that we have to find some code solutions to avoid problems with Vista.
Avoid that Vista dont allow programs to run?

Anohter problem i think i found is that those programs are maybe not writing or reading properly the registry.
Per example, im trying to run NetCaptor.
ONLY if i do the righclick trick it runs, otherwise closes "because Vista found some error".
But even doing those righclick run as administrator i get a prompt from NetCaptor telling that its not default webbrowser and asking me if want to set it as default browser.
BUT next time same prompt. Its like it can not set itself as default broswer.
NetCaptor uses AsPack for it's protection which might be part of the problem you are having with it.
Things are even worse for Armadillo...
Windows XP had DEP (Data Execution Protection) set to being on only for essential Windows programs and services by default, Armadillo and protected programs run just fine even if I set DEP to being on for all programs and services.
Windows Vista has DEP set to being on for all programs and services by default. Armadillo and protected programs will not run (they get killed by DEP) unless you either put the program in DEP's exclusion list or set DEP to being on only for essential programs and services only.
So in my view Microsoft broke something in a very big way in the Vista implementation of DEP.
Worse, we've been working with Microsoft to try and solve this problem for the past six weeks, we are no closer to a solution than when we started and all they ever seem to do is ask for minidumps...
Not even sure they know what they're doing....
