Unless they've changed the way they do forum registration, you shouldn't need approval, nor do I think they'd try to find other forums you've posted on.

Their forum should simply send you an e-mail to validate your e-mail address, once you've done that you should be able to post messages there.

OK, then they changed the way they're doing forum registration, probably because they require you use your real name there and some people didn't, or it's a technique to keep the spam bots out.

Not everyone likes to use their own name, does seem a bit off. Still, it's their forum, they can do what they like. I'll stick to these forums. :)

For me, its PureBasic, I purchased PowerBasic7, and waited for the release of 8. I honestly was so dissapointed with the update, that I never even purchased the upgrade.

As for EZ GUI. I own PwrDev and FireFly and have used them with PB with great results. I've never tried EZ GUI. Mostly because the developer's posts on the forum seem so desperate.

Yeah, I thought it kind of strange too... oh well, doesn't matter since I don't post there anymore...

I bought all four, PwrDev, FireFly, Phoenix, and EZ-GUI (v3), never upgraded to v4 because the upgrade price was more than what I paid for v3! EZ-GUI v3 was $99, upgrade to v4 is $149.

Of all of them EZ-GUI was the easiest to work with because it handled all the API for you, The others only handled some of it for you. I was rather hoping for something that would put a VB like environment around PowerBASIC.

For me it's PureBasic too, PowerBASIC is a fine language, but its native support of Windows is weak to non-existant unless you are fluent with the Windows API.

PureBasic at least provides enough easy to use commands to replace the API that you can actually do something (a lot actually) with it without a single API call.

I agree with you, he's always posting promotional messages in the 3rd party add-ons section touting the benefits of EZ-GUI but never offering any incentives to entice people to buy.

P B against p b

Post by gebe »

You are right Brice......doubly right !!!

Two years ago I made some small programs in order to test the relative speeds of:
Power Basic on its own ( PBwin 8 )with PB forms 1.5
P B with Firefly
PHOENIX
and EZY something against VC++6 and VB6

->results at the time were as follows
for an average of 10 seconds run doing loops writing to edit controls formatting
strings etc...,The programs for all were as close as is possible with different langages.
Champion VC++6 14 961 000 per second
1/1.88 POW BAS 7 940 000
1/1.902 PHENIX 7 871 000
1/1.908 EZ.. 7 844 000
1/2.254 FIREFLY 7 264 000
VB 6 325 000 !!!!!nO API'S . COULD HAVE boosted it with API calls of course
NEW TESTS INCLUDING PURE BASIC

CHAMPION STIL VC++6 17 104 000 PER SECOND (FASTER COMPUTER)
close second, Pure Basic 16 455 350 not bad ..I am now even more interested in PURE BASIC(GT)
1/2 Power Basic 7 908 168 .............are n't you glad you got Pure Basic ?
close again Phenix 7 398 668
Ez I threw it away ...
Firefly I put it to sleep

VB 6 631 000 nearly double with faster machine
Any body who want the EXE's and or sources I still have(Had to dig for it )
also a Jpg of the screen.Leave a msg in my box.I'll post or E-Mail
That it folks.

gege,

This kind of statement/comparison does not even dignify a reply and, I suspect, is beneath 90% of PureBasic users. This is the type of posting that should be posted to the PowerBASIC forum so that you can be shown the error of your ways.

I've had both languages for many years, PureBasic almost from the start and I know they are very, very close.

Now take it to the PowerBASIC forum.

PureBasic does make REALLY REALLY REALLY small executables.. how can that be? I mean, sure Fred does have optimized Pure very well, but I can't believe that a Hello World app with some buttons is just 7k in Pure, but in Visual Basic it's 46k! Notice the difference!
