Big problem with IE7: Can't remove a 3rd party toolbar!!

Big problem with IE7: Can't remove a 3rd party toolbar!!

EDIT: I solved it by using HijackThis.

Hello!

My friend had a problem with his IE7, so I went to see what could it be.. it was a 3rd party toolbar from ie-v.com that he couldn't remove..

I went to see the Add or Remove section in the Control Panel but the toolbar wasn't listed :(

We can hide it by right clicking on it and deselecting "System".. and when we right click the area in IE7 and select "System" then the toolbar appears again..

How can I remove this "piece of junk" from IE7?

I have IE6 (but use Firefox) and in IE6 if you select "Tools" menu there is an
item called "Manage Add-ons", so if IE7 has that, then you should be able to
disable it from there.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

IE7 does have it.

Ooops! Missed that, too busy in "tech support" mode... :mrgreen:

I got it removed by using HijackThis.. a wonderful piece of software :D

I solved all my IE7 issues by using IE 6 and/or Firefox.

My company uses two completely different systems to manage Service Calls...

Nexterna Clearview and Citrix (Running MS Great Plains (aka Great PAINS!)

Both have had issues with IE7 and will not run in Firefox. It is a ASP / PHP thing (IMHO)

So we downgraded to IE6 and I use firefox to browse the net...

Much easier :D

There are some free tools that let you do this and even take off some 'hidden' 3º party apps that could run with your IE, search for BHO killers.
