Mascot for the caveman artisan?

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

I was wondering if there is a need for a nice Game rendered graphic package free available for everyone. A good programmer isn't allways talented with the drawing skills. And when it comes to tutorials and showoff on gaming tricks, you need that fancy stuff to show your Programming Art.

This package should be used for others to write code snippets and tutorials for. Most ideal would always have the content have the same path in the purebasic folder.

I myself kinda miss a nice animated Purebasic Mascot to tweak around with for testing purposes. Those static img's in the Purebasic distribuation is abit boring for the Flashy gaming arena.
The Mascot should be available in a 3D format and 2D rendered cycles.

What kind off Thing would be a good PureBasic mascot? Fred's housepet (if any), A contest user vote on this board??
Everyone throw in some ideas and suggestions.

I would give a try to make one in Milkshape, but I just need more input for what makes a good purebasic character / object to animate. Hope other hobby talents would do so too.

If there are thoughts on Logo's / Coorp. identity from Fred's mind, then just let this thread fade away.

Just a thought away from the struct [error] strict coding :)
Van

I'm thinking of a Mascot that sums up everything about Purebasic. To be used in mostly gaming tutorials, examples or codetests.

My own thoughts are atm a newbie / noob character. This could be a Caveman/woman, 3 Wheeled Bike or The Half Hatched Chicken/Crocodile/Ostrich Egg. Something that describes the early buggy stages of development.

more ideas please

ANT? just "brainstorming" here (little to work with -eh?)

snakes have negative connotations as well as spiders...

ferret? similar problem (always stealing eggs)

mongoose? rat-killer.. ..cool, but "Pure" or "Basic" (NOT)

so far I still like ANT...

the gear symbols of PureBasic imply work.. ants are hard workers..

an EMU is out of the question..

c'mon gang! we're supposed to be brainstorming here!

a hippo is FAT like WinDoze and many of the other programming
languages....

cats are complicated like C and C++ (to me anywaze)
they're selfish too!

ants are rather clean little creatures...

dogs are faithful, but ...no, not a dog.

gerbils... ...I'm not going there!

a dove is Pure (as a symbol anyway)

most birds are just too complicated to be considered Basic

lion? the cat thing again

dancing gears with smiley faces? too corney

somebody STOP ME!

back to the lowly ANT.

anybody else?

I also vote for a nice PB mascot

Should especially show the speed of PB, e.g. something like the Sonic from ItCanBeDone... :)
And please note, don't use a Windows special/typical mascot, as there are more PB platforms available.

André

It was small.
It was Fast.
It was the first plane to break the sound barrier. (Or was it the X2?)
It would even fit vanleth's "early buggy stages of development" as it was an X plane. Although I think PureBasic is beyond that.

What do you all think?

i had the guys at work 'brainstorming' this one, we came up with these:

A Squirrel (Fast, Cheeky, playful but Serious when it wants to be)
A Fish [of some sort] (Fast, Sleek, Streamlined)
Tim at work came up with Fred the Frog? or a Snail with a turbo charger on its shell? (not sure about those!)

I personally like the squirrel :)

To the PURE and BASIC, good day :)

I just had to stop lurking in the background for this one… so here goes!

I hereby nominate the Meerkat for the prestigious and coveted position of official PureBasic mascot.

The Meerkat motto… Play when you can, Work when you should, Rest in between.
Share your Affection, Voice your Feelings, Leave your mark.

These guys are smart and social. They are lightning fast… killing snakes and eating scorpions by removing their stingers, before the scorpion has time to use it.

Now imagine… two Meerkats on a hill (45 deg. Slope). One, standing on a “squareâ€

Good point. Btw loved the Antz movie

Andre: don't use a Windows special/typical mascot
Agree. Im sure it will come up original and insane.

TheBeck: The X1 rocket plane?
Heck yeah, I wanna fly one too. Don't care if its unstable.

Kale: Snail with a turbo charger on its shell?
Big laugh. Plz Tell your friend Tim he scored points on that one.

Magi: A Meerkat
Hello's wellcome onboard. Good story. It is just hard to model a meerkat so it look like a ehhh Meerkat. It's not a common figure. But hell, as long someone knows what it is, it dosnt matter.

I sence peoble wants something that symbolise pure speed, small size and smartness.

For a animating point of view, it would be cool if the mascot is linked to somekind of a gadget. Like Tim's snail. It gives much more character to a model.

Great ideas, love them each. They all inspires. Keep'em coming peoble.

Here is more suggestions:
A Alien monster (A clone between spaceinvaders and the Brain Robotrons. Maybe its too game alike and less PB alike)
A humanlike mascot assembled by orbiting binary number's, geometric figures and rotating gear symbols. (This one should show that PB is Hardcore)
A white cartoonish mouse (small and pure, but a bit too ordinary and reminds me of too much mouse clicking)
