I would like OO in Purebasic so that I can...

Post by GedB »

Things have become far too heated about OOP over in the Feature Request and Wishlist forum:

http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtopic.php?t=25675

The request for OO just keeps coming back, so I think its time for some level heated discussion. First I'll lay down some rules.

Only 2 types of post are allowed:

1) A clear statement of what OO feature you would like, and what it would allow you to achieve that you cannot do now.

2) A suggestion of how that same thing might be achieved using the existing syntax.

No value judgments for now. Lets just see if we can get a list of things that either cannot be done, or that can only be done in an unpleasant way.

Then we can see how OO can solve those problems.

Fred said he didn't want to add OOP so I don't see the point of discussing it.

Yes, it's as though OO fans are trying to convert Fred to it. He has said he
doesn't want to do it, so why can't the OO fans get over it and use another
language instead of nagging the man constantly?
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).
"PureBasic won't be object oriented, period" - Fred.

ffs. Fred has said on countless occasions that OOP is not planned for Purebasic! How more plain do you people want it? If you need OOP use C++ or C#.

As said in another post you all knew what you were buying when you bought PureBasic.
