Simple Lens Calculator

Post by Baldrick »

Nothing special. just a simple calculator to help work out what field of vision you will get or what lens will be needed to gain a particular view on a CCTV or web camera. ( Using 1/4", 1/3" or 1/2 inch CCd camera's.)
Thought somebody might find it usefull.

Sorry for the late answer Dell_Jockey,
I have been working away for the last couple of days.

I am using Metre units for distances.
However, millimetres should always be used for lens sizes with this program.
1 of the odd things about CCTV is that the CCD's are referred to in inches, but the lenses fitted to them are reffered to in mm. ( Here in aus anyway. )
If howerever you use feet as your measurements, it will return distances in feet or if metres are your preffered unit, the results will be returned as metres. It is just a simple relative calculation. Just so long as you don't try to mix different value types.

I have tested with several brands of camera's & lenses which I have set up on varying DVR's & all seems to be quite reasonably accurate.
