3D Rad 6.0

Post by Brice Manuel »

I was curious if anybody has been playing with 3D Rad 6.0 since it was recently released? If so what do you think of it?

FREE !? o_O...

[EDIT]
Ah, the compiler costs 30$, but still looking good, the Editor itself is a big strange tho..

Initially it was free, but the paid compiler appeared a little while ago. Still, price-wise its certainly better than previous 3D Rad version. I am sure some other paid features will appear.

I can't imagine 3D Rad being a serious game development contender anymore (too little too late, in my opinion). However, it is interesting to see and it will be beneficial to those just starting out who want a point and click type of a 3D game maker.

You should probably title this thread 3D Rad v6, since v6 is a totally different engine to v5.2.

I used to use v5.2, the old 3D Rad, it's what I started out in 3D on. I finally hit its limits when I tried writing a chess-type game called Chaos. 3D Rad v5.2 was sort of OOP which didn't suit me as Chaos really suited a procedural language. There was major problems because you needed a lot of global values and that was a real pain in Rad. I then moved to Blitz3D.

I haven't tried v6 and won't either as it is just point-and-click but it's great for newbies and artists, if it works out as planned.
