HYDRA

Post by Brice Manuel »

For Christmas, my parents bought me a HYDRA:

I am having a blast with it. I was wondering if anybody else has got one?

I had never even seen one.

Should have gotten that for my son instead of x-box360 :) It really looks cool.

Let us know how you do with it.

edit - How did they know about it? Had you dropped a hint?

cheers

Wifey got me an XBOX 360 also. If you get FFXI, be prepared for some "hoop going through" whoa!

never have seen one, either, but looks quite interesting.
seems to be not that much a 3D-gaming console,
but some kind of a ready-to-program for everyone...

would be nice to read more from you about it,
espacially in 3-8 weeks, when first ethusiams seazed... ;)
oh... and have a nice day.

My parents live close, and my wife and I go out to lunch with my Mom a couple of times per week, so I had dropped some hints. But when my Mom asked what my wife and I wanted for Christmas, I told her I wanted a HYDRA :D

I know I am in the minority, but I hate 3D, so for me this is perfect

Right now, the going has been slow, as I am getting used to everything. The main programming language (SPIN) is easy to pick up, but my ASM skills are a bit rusty.

Unfortunately, right now, I only have the HYDRA hooked up to a 5-inch black and white TV. But, today is my birthday and I will be getting a 14-inch color TV to use with my HYDRA, and any money I get for my birthday will be used to order some more blank game cartridges for use with the HYDRA.

So far, to keep my first game for the HYDRA simple, I have been working on a clone of the Golf game from the Odyssey 2.

I have a domain secured that I am going to use for putting up a site dedicated to my HYDRA games. I will have to start a HYDRA worklog, too

I love the HYDRA, until now my favorite platform to develop for was my TI-994/A. Now it is the HYDRA. I am at a point now where I mainly program for fun and for making games I enjoy playing. I could happily only write for the HYDRA and never write a PC game again.

Sounds like it was a good buy, let us know your website so we can see the games.

Well, 14" TV I got for my birthday turned out to be a POS, so I took it back and got a 20" for only $13 more.

I have completed two games for the HYDRA so far. I finished my simple golf game and I finished a simple fishing game. I don't have a camera so I can't post any pcitures. Somewhere I think I may have a webcam, if I can find it and the software for it, I will see if that can take "acceptable" screenshots of the HYDRA games. Once I clean up the code a bit, I will eventually post the code for these games on my site.

I have been working on fabricating a case for the HYDRA along with cases for the "game cartridges". When I am done, I should have a nice looking "custom" game console :D

This sounds so cool, I wish we all had little HYDRAs...
I like logic, hence I dislike humans but love computers.
