While that statement is probably tongue in cheek, I can agree to some extent for consoles prior to Wii, but it's obvious from the marketing campaign that Nintendo are trying to attract the typical (older) 'non-console' user with the wireless controller. Most of the ads are of people 20-30s and even older (like your grandpa). It's also interesting to read this recent press release hinting at more general applications like health-care.
