New Idea: TexMexBasic

Post by the_off_topic_guy »

Hello!

I'm not using PureBasic now, but I have an idea that I want to code in assembly, what do you think of it?

It is a Open Source Basic language (with the style of PureBasic) but using OpenAL, OpenGL and GTK2 to make applications.

The main Operating Systems targeted are nearly all Linux flavors, but also Windows if I have the energy to push the power button on my PC :P

Oh, and the name TexMexBasic, well who said Tex Mex would be bad?

Wouldn't it be faster to create libraries for PureBasic if you want to create a language in the same style anyways?

I've often thought of making a quick translator from PB->C code utilizing open source libraries, so I could migrate some of my more complex games to C. Never managed to find time to do it though. I honestly think making a PB-syntax compatible interfac to GCC would be a better way to spend your time.

Not sure how kindly Fred will take to your suggestion being on his forum though, since what you are proposing is essentially a free version of what he makes a chunk of his living from.

To Fred: I am sorry for this thread, but you have to accept it that you have a very powerful and wonderful application and please let's be friends. I am not going to make the "FreePB" but a smaller environment for quick and easy programming. However, yours supports the GLIBC API, Win32 API and it is avalailbe to Macs and Amigas, so I can't compete with your product even if it's going to be free. Sorry.

This thread really just rubs me the wrong way.
