Hi!

Today I finally got my versions of PureBasic and wanted to test the Linux-Compiler just with a litte MessageRequester-Script.

I start compilation with "./PCompiler ../hallo.pb"

I get following Messages on the screen:

**************************************************
PureBasic Linux x86 2.90
**************************************************

Loading external modules...
Starting compilation (2 lines proceeded).
Creating the executable.

- Feel the ..PuRe.. Power -
[jan@localhost Compilers] $ Hallo : Hi : 0

The cursor is under the last line, I have to press any key, to return to the prompt.

I can't see any error message, but after that, there is no executable there. Nothing happened.

Does anyone know, what I did wrong, or what do I have to look for, when compiling under linux?

greetz, Jan

PS: I've got Redhat 7.3

I haven't tested with the linux version but you might have to set an option/switch when compiling to generate an exe... try with: "./PCompiler -?" or something like that and you might see what different options the PCompiler program takes...

I really don't think you can use the character '/' as a switch in linux as this is a reserved character for directory stuff, try with something else like '\?' or '-?'. Isn't there some special linux manual that goes with the package?(haven't got the linux version at all so i don't know what stuff is in it.)

Sorry that i can't help you, perhaps someone that has actually tried out the linux version can answer you...

Just send me a mail. Linux was in beta stage, so it was only useful for skilled users. It should change soon.

Hhhmmmm, ok, I know, that there is a V3.30 soon, but I still don't know how to create executables under Linux :o(

The Manual included seems to be for Windows.

Because there I read that I have to type in "./PBCompiler file.pb /EXE".

I tried 3 other combinations:

./PBCompiler file.pb \EXE
./PBCompiler file.pb -EXE
./PBCompiler file.pb EXE

Unfortunately, nothing worked.

And I purchased PureBasic to use it mainly under Linux.
I was really glad, when I reached emulating the PB-IDE with Wine, so I have also a compatible Editor I can use under Linux. I even can create .exe-Files through Wine :o)

This is good news.

A usable Linux Version comes really out next week :)

I have to reinstall RedHat, and finally have fun with an OS... thanks Fred :)

Have a nice day...
