MY Dad drives a Hybrid Car and though it doesn't accelerate very good at higher speeds, which is due to its really bad gas engine, it only takes 9,7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and you can watch how the electric motor supports the gas engine. I think these Hybrid cars have helped alot in the development of better Batteries and so on (Ours has a Lithium-ion Battery which is charged with the energy it gets when stopping) and due to the high efficency of electric motors they can accelerate pritty good.

We also had a tiny real electric car some years ago, I was very young back than and I will always remember the sound it made when my dad came home it sounded like a bee^^ Since we are living in a verry hilly city (nearly 500 m above Sealevel (the city center is only 15 minutes waling away but some hundred meters deeper)) it was a really hard place for this little car. It was an early model and one day it's charging controler got on fire and the whole car burned down.

Hehehe excellent Nik. Reminds me of that little blue car in the Mr. Bean series.
When I worked at Hertz, I used to borrow a Think, a small, electric car made in Norway, now owned by Ford, and drive it around in the weeks. Really alot of fun, that was in the late 90's, and trust me, the chicks loved that car.

Yawn. No big deal -- the weight of the cars are not the same, which will be
a deciding factor. The electric car weighs only 1500 pounds. The others are
3000 and 3200 pounds! Not very fair, is it? It's only natural that the electric
car can take off faster.

It is deffinitely also an advantage of electric motors, they are much more efficient and the way they accelerate is awesome.

It's actually very good in the snow because it's tires are really thin...[/i]

the thing was to show that electric stuff could beat the others.PB wrote: Yawn. No big deal -- the weight of the cars are not the same, which will be

i believe you can get more power for less $.

But it's not. If it weighed the same as them, they'd beat it. Physics 101.
