Plans for PureBasic 4 for Linux?

Hello!

This is my first time here in the forums and I hope to have some pleasant time with everyone.

I have purchased PureBasic about a month ago and I must say it is cool indeed. I mainly use Linux for my work, but for the lazy-time I use Windows

. I downloaded the PureBasic 4 for Windows and made some simple applications with it, and I must say it's great

.
The only thing that knocks my head all the time is PureBasic 4 for Linux; how much development on it is done, when will it be out? Perhaps next year or next month?

Oh and a good friend of mine wanted also to the production world and so I recommended him PureBasic. After 2 days he called me and said that he couldn't run my applications that I made in PureBasic, so I went over to his house and analyzed the situation. I found out that he had PureBasic 3.92 Demo and so he wasn't able to run my application, as I used version 3.94 and it's new features (new commands). However, the problem is not to find out how to have the program work in version 3.92.

So, I would like to know, when the new PureBasic is released, will the PureBasic production team also make a new demo version?

Welcome to the forums.

I am not part of the Pure team so this is opinion but I feel pretty confident that a demo version 4 will follow the official linux 4.00 release.

Glad you like PureBasic and looking forward to lots of PB linux hints and tips, etc, from you.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I am a Debian Developer and I have created very powerful applications for both KDE and Gnome with NAsm. As I was looking for some other programming language for Linux other than C, I found PureBasic. It was like an angel came to me and said that my wishes come true; and they did!

And just wait until pb4 version is done

Some nice additions and updates to the 3.94 linux version are already in.

That is just concerning me, how much should I wait? I don't want to start big projects now, because then I have to convert the source to version 4 incase on further development on it.

Thank you for recommending, but the program is for windows and as I said before, I work in Linux, but doodle around in windows.

It will convert linux sources as well, as they are equal.

Work on the v4 for linux is in progress right now.
I'd say it is only a matter of weeks till the first public beta.

Of course there will be a new demo as well then (only after it reaches final state though)

E-mail it to me and I'll run it through the converter for you. (Why don't you use wine? (Yes, I know it's crap but it will probably work for a "simple" program like the converter.))

Hehe, I have no code right now for you to convert

And the problem with WINE is that it's fairly unstable (even for a simple application). That's why I bought CrossOver Office Pro (currently running stuff like FL Studio, SEO Elite just to name a few)

However, freak from the PureBasic development team, it is good to hear that there is much development for the linux platform. Looking forward to the public beta
