[NEW BOOK] Purebasic - A Beginner's Guide To Programming...

First off, thanks go out to Kale for your hard work into making this book!

Second, there was a problem with my original shipment of the book, but CafePress customer service turned out to be great and fixed the problem without hassle.

Third, the binding of the book didn't allow it to lay flat, but this was easily solved by having it spiral bound at FedExKinko's for $4. Just wanted to mention this in case this is an issue for anyone else.

Finally got my book here in Australia!

Very good job, Kale.

Some things of note: the pages aren't as "yellow" as I feared after reading
about them here. They're more of a very faint off-white really. Definitely
wouldn't call them "yellow".

Some pages were "dented" in the middle, like they had been mishandled.
Oh well. Doesn't detract from it too much, but makes it look second-hand
rather than a new book. A bit disappointing.

In the Index on page 333, "EnableExplicit" is listed twice.

And we finally get to see what Kale looks like!

Yeah the yellow is more of a very faint hue.

Kale, let me add my kudos on a great job.

I have had my copy for a number of days now and pretty much been through the whole book.

FYI guys, the paper color is known as "buff" in the printing business here in the states. It seems to be somewhat of a recent fad.

It presents me a slight problem, as I can't read lots of things printed on yellow or buff paper due to a vision problem. Good thing the print is black and not blue or I wouldn't have been able to read it at all.

Kale, I think the earlier mention of having your book spiral bound is something you should consider. CafePress offers this as an option, I know, but I don't know how much it affects your costs. Maybe the spiral binding could be an option the purchaser could choose.

This is really a "reference manual" and as such is much easier to use when it will lay flat as it does with spiral binding rather than the perfect bind you are using.

Again, great job! I hope you sell thousands of copies.

Well, when it's all said and done.... I like reading in the buff, er... (chuckle) ... reading off the yellow'ish colored pages. It does seem to be less eye strain.

So, good call to that publisher for having it as their default.

I finally got into Chapter 5 (been busy with a new Brick and Mortar shop of late). I noticed that you speak about the Operators, but I still get confused on when I would need to use the Bitwise ops. For some reason I just can't picture a time when I would need to use such, including the shift operators.

Someone clue me in on when these are needed, please.

Summing it up...

I'd recommend this book for those starting out with PB or brushing up on their PB knowledge.

Nice job Kale. You're a Kale-of-a-guy in my (ahem) book.
