New to PureBasic and this forum...

Post by Invizix »

Hello everyone,

I purchased PureBasic sometime in late 2005, and i'm just now starting to tinker with it more. I'm new to programming, I know some "old school" basic stuff like print, input, goto, etc... however things seem different in PureBasic.

Are there any sites for PureBasic that are for people new to PureBasic and to programming?

Thank you for any and all replies.

P.S. Glad to be here as a member of the PureBasic family of coders.

Welcome! :)

The manual is your friend, it tells you how to do almost everything!
And look at other peoples examples, if you need help with anything just ask. :)

I recommend this page: http://www.purearea.net/pb/english/index.htm
Look in the showcase and you'll find many examples with sourcecode.
And search the forum, there is lots of nice code hidden here! :P
I like logic, hence I dislike humans but love computers.

Yes, the manual is your friend. When you first load the help file, there are two columns of subject matter on the right pane. The first column starts with "The Pure Basic IDE" and so on. I recommend reading EVERYTHING starting there, working through all of the library docs, etc. This process will probably take a few days or more, but it's worth it. Also, definately have a look at the examples in the docs and in the 'Examples' folder.

It's not really as weird as it may seem once you understand what's going on.
