I don't really know the purpose of this post, but I sort of got a bit exited. And it shows that GTk 2 version is real and it is possible to get it to work.

The parts in BSD are literally designed and made for each other. Linux is made up parts from here there and everywhere, and before a distro release the parts are checked to confirm that they go well together.
