Don't all get hung up on speed.

Speed isn't important anymore in computing, unless a compiler is so bad ... in which case nobody would use it!

Tell that to the millions of artists, special effects shops, audio and video editors around the world. Speed means everything (right next to accurate). After all, time is money, and speed is part of time
