What would be the best downloads for those?
How if I download it all to a D:/ drive can I upload it on the C:/ drive and how do I save/test/exit test/play/exit a game/games?

priceless
Good programmers don't comment their code. It was hard to write, should be hard to read.

Ok, sorry.Fira wrote:Be more specific from now on please, thank you.
First of all, welcome to the forums!
I somehow thought you just can't be serious - to be honest, I don't even
understand your exact questions but I had a really great time reading
your post (and the ET one), that's why I wrote 'priceless'. I'm sorry if I
was wrong. I know I shouldn't have replied at all.

I don't blame him, I can't understand your question (if any really).
If you are talking about how to organize your game files for testing on all your PCs... then its good idea to have a main PC (name it "server") and share from there a folder with your game files. On the other PCs (obviously connected to the same network) you'll be able to access this shared directory and run your game from it.
If your game requires config and settings files per machine, make a dir for each PC in your server and once you compile, make yourself a program that would "distribute" all new files to your dirs... that way you'll have a copy for each PC with out sharing the files. - But if you're on development, running all from the same dir is not a bad idea. Just make sure you dont have conflicts with settings, etc.
Now, for 2D games.. it depends wether you're going to use DX for rendering or do it all yourself in memory then display on screen...
For the latter, you wont have any driver issues since you're doing it yourself, but its the "hard" way if you're very very new to programming.
That said, please rephrase your question.
It's known that for a vague question you'll get a vague answer, But I don't work that way.
If you're worried about compatibility between 9x, NT, etc.. Best way is to do a small test application where you can benchmark your results, etc.. And run it on all your systems.
It's good to have lots of testing platforms, so in that way you're on the right path.

Fira wrote:How to download PureBasic to a D:? and upload it up to a Windows 95/98/2000 and/or XP on the C:/ drive.srod wrote:What exactly are you asking Fira?
welcome btw!
And this is a CODING question?... My last post was written while the last post was made by traumatic.. So I didnt really got to read this.
I suggest you to rephrase again and I suggest a moderator to move this to the offtopic section please.
Rephrase as in: Are your PCs in a LAN?, if so.. Can't you share a dir in your pc where you have purebasic and "download" the file from the other PCs?... That said, if you have a LAN and an inet connection, you could easily share said connection between all your systems and download from each PC....
If your question is regarding licensing, I think you can do it safely but It's always been a big mistery (perhaps because of legal ignorance from the developers or what?) to many pals over here... - I believe that when you get your licence its limited to as many PCs you want but only to those you own and use. If you have the extra cash, buy one per workstation.
I don't blame them, the site hasnt been updated in years, the licence doc could be used to clean my dog's poo and perhaps it'd becom more clear that way...

http://www.purebasic.com/faq.php3FAQ wrote: Is the PureBasic licence only valid for one OS ?
No. The PureBasic licence is an user-based licence, which means you can install your full version on all of your computers without the need to buy another licence for each. PureBasic currently runs on three different operating systems (Windows, Linux and AmigaOS) and a single licence cover them all. Even if PureBasic is ported to other OSes (OpenBSD, MacOS X..) you will have free access to them.
Good programmers don't comment their code. It was hard to write, should be hard to read.
No no, you got me wrong. I only quoted the FAQ because of the word "mystery"dagcrack wrote:What did I said... That you can install on any pc you own and use. Same thing that the FAQ says!

However if you wanted to help purebasic, you could just by a licence per workstation as I said as well.

Clarify me!
Anyway I had to read his first post twice to notice me might been asking "what should I get for developing 2d games in my dell? xp, 9x, or what?"
I'd go for XP and if you have other PCs, get other OS' for them so you can test easily. If you only own 1 PC, use a virtual PC. That if you own multiple windows products though..

All this guessing made me hungry.

Welcome, Fira! I'd recommend you go to the download page at http://www.purebasic.com and download the free demo. When it's completed, double-click the file and follow the instructions. It will install itself properly on your computer. It will work best with Windows 98, better than Windows 95. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions. We love to help!
