There is certainly a future for Linux maybe not for the Linux Kernel itself because its very very oldschool but for Open Source /GNU Operating systems in general since there will always be enough "freaks".
And since XGL will run on every *NIX there is also a future for xgl

I just built a new system to switch to Linux primarily. Its an AMD 64 X2 4400 - so I can run VMWare with Win2k and Win98 at the same time. Anyway, although I earn my living from developing Windows apps, I think the popularity of Windows is basically mind-control by MS. For example "Linux isn't ready for the Desktop" - wonder who wrote that? But it has been propagated everywhere.

I just converted a friend to Linux because her employees kept downloading viruses and spyware. Made the desktop look like her Mac and she loves it.

Coming into the office this morning, I was listening to the Kim Komando tech radio show which is very popular here in the states, but she acts like Windows is the only OS ever! And all of her advertisers are anti-virus and anti-spyware companies! Just listening for a few minutes wants me to jump to Linux! I wonder how much MS pays her on the side.

So the real question: Is Microsoft Windows ready for the desktop?

If it's made by Microsoft, then why would the page look like this?
