Taking all bets...

Post by Killswitch »

The bug reports forum seems to have quited down a little bit, so I'm convinved 4.0 will be out sometime (very) soon. I don't want to put pressure on the PB team, I just thought this might be a bit 'O fun!

(All options should be taken as 'between' dates i.e. between 1 and 2 weeks).

I voted 3 - 4 Months because I think Fred really wants this to be 100% stable
before release, as it's such a milestone version. I think he'll keep giving us a
lot of stable betas during this period, though, which is totally fine by me.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

I vote for as long as possible. For hobbyists, having bugs is just something to learn to work around. But for people who have paying customers using products that are going to be written in v4, there can be no mistakes. It must be rock solid or it comes down to losing customers and not many can afford that in this day and age.

As many beta releases as it takes please.

Yes, this should've been a vote option, which is why I chose 3-4 months.

Agreed. But one thing I am sure of: 2006 will be the year for v4.00 Final. :)

I would say that Fred should keep 4.0 in beta until it is available for all platforms. That would save a lot of confusion.

Those who want 4.0 will have access to the beta, and can give a good testing.

Those who are new see just a single product that is (mostly) consistant across platforms.
