APP: Cougar - Installer

Post by neuronic »

Hi Everyone.

I have just finished (almost) my newest application: Cougar. It is a full installation system with an editor. You can easily create setup/install files with it. There is no demo yet but you can download the User Guide in pdf format.

www.cyberstorm.hu/downloads/cougarguide.pdf

Please check it out. The guide contains all the details, features as well as some screens from the editor. If you want to see Cougar in action you can download two of my games:

www.cyberstorm.hu/downloads/minefield.exe
www.cyberstorm.hu/downloads/brainstorm2.0.2.exe

Both games have already been mentioned in the forum earlier. Some of you migth have downloaded them.

I will add lots of other features to Cougar in the future.

Unfortunatelly Cougar will not be free. The price will be 50 Euros. Of course for PureBasic users it will be cheaper something like 25 Euros.

Please let me know what you think about it. I only need to implement the limitation/registration system for the demo, but if nobody is interested in buying Cougar, I won't deal with it.

(Of course Cougar was coded using PureBasic.)

Hmm, I don't want to be to pessimistic, but there are many excellent freeware installers out there : InnoSetup, Nullsoft Installer (NSIS), ...
For free libraries and tools, visit my web site (also home of jaPBe V3 and PureFORM).

-1? Just because they are free, it doesnt make them easy to use :) Thus one of the reasons why people will be more willing to use a paid language then a free one if its easy to use. :) Same with installers ...

and it will always be people that pay for extra features, i.e. WISE Package Studio and FLEXNet InstallShield / Admin Studio.

Well, WISE has saved my *ss several times, when it comes to re-package crappy installations and to make packages more "multi environment" friendly. :D
