That should help clear things up. Apperently the video (youtube.com link) is old footage and not nessacarily representative of the (final) product.

It's been formally announced today as expected - goto http://www.origamiproject.com/ - you'll see 'skip' down the bottom-right corner, then you'll be taken to other Microsoft sites. Worth a look.

How about the oqo - it's been shipping. It's pretty cool. http://www.oqo.com/hardware/features/

I think the issue with devices like these (say Sony U series) is that they are quite attractive on size but not on cost. These are about the same cost as a regular notebook. However from what I've read about origami devices, these are supposedly aiming for US$500-1000 bracket. We'll see if it meets that, but maybe it's possible since these origami machines are more like a revamped PDA than an oqo-style micro-notebook.

Yes, but it's rather expensive. About €1400.

Doesnt OQO have a bad screen? 2 guys already told me that (but then, who knows whats "good" for them and whats "bad"... technically speaking though).

The ideas are not bad, the concepts are not bad at all... The prices are, if they want it to really hit, it should be more accessible for public. But really, making a piece of those costs them almost nothing, and you know it. You're just "paying" to the engineers (bleh, the inversion), etc. (hey not crying about it, but its how it goes).

Connectivity has always been a nice thing anyway :) Who doesnt like it?. You're telling me you don't like to programm while you're being shitted by birds on a park? or while being chased by some ex girlfriend down the road?.

I think the Samsung one is fantastic:

http://news.com.com/2300-1044-6047702.html

Smaller than a laptop/notebook and better than a Pocket PC... and it runs
a normal Windows XP install! PureBasic coding ANYWHERE! :) I love it!
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).
