Nice!

With some tracks/sections I could imagine it very effectively setting the mood for a movie. With others, it was relaxing. Mood manager music! :)

What tools do you use?

It's good! Had it playing while browsing, and I only do that with good stuff. :)
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

Hi,

thanks for the good reviewing of my album. :D

@Dare2:
I use a midi-sequencer (old outdated massiva-sequencer) and some VSTi (crystal, free alpha, steinberg orchestral etc) together with my e-mu proteus 1000 expander. I play using a Roland digital-piano as midi masterkeyboard. All mixed together and mastered using n-track (http://www.fasoft.com/) (my favorite recording-software) and some freeware vts-effects (like freeverb too, classic-series of http://www.kjaerhusaudio.com/classic-series.php and others).

Nice!

Ok, I can't resist, I just have to make some (maybe unusual) comments:

General impression:
Some sounds and especially the mixing "scared" me sometimes.
I know that "expensive sounding" sounds are often a matter of money
(as the name implies) but there's no excuse for the mixing!

Seriously, some instruments (hihat, tambourine) just don't fit well into
the mix, they don't "sit inside".

I really like the conceptual idea, seems like you've spent some time
thinking about the order of the individual tracks.

Track 03:
IMHO the piano almost panically cries for the sustenuto pedal.
Give it to it, it'll reward you with a much nicer sound ;)

Track 06:
My favorite! :D

Track 09:
This guitar sound tied me into knots. This is not a real guitar,
is it? If possible, re-do the track with a real guitar, I promise
it will bring the song way up. ;)

Track 11:
I'm curious: Where do the (female) choir-sounds come from?

Please don't get me wrong, this is just what came into my mind
while listening to your tracks, just my personal (well meant)
opinion!

Apart from this know-it-all stickling for detail review:
Thumbs up!! :)

Hi traumatic,

Thanks a lot for your comments. I alway's try to do as good as possible, but some songs are recorded with a second soundcard under painful circumstances. So, in this case a re-recording is very hard and I decided avoiding remixing songs of this album. I reheard them on about 10 hifi systems and very often changed the mix (mastering-stage). But now, the album is complete. Surely, I will do it better in the future. 8)

For the guitar, yes it's not a real guitar. It is a VSTi plugin (http://news.harmony-central.com/Newp/2004/Slayer-2.html). I will look forward to hire a real guitarrist for future songs

Again,
Track 11:

Take a look here (german):

or here (english):

I used Irina Brochin soundfont.

Thanks!
They're pretty good, instantly reminded me of "Quantum Leap Voices Of The Apocalypse"

i'm in no way even remotely a musician, but i'd like a somewhat darker piano, a real guitar :-) but also the whole to be a little more 'epic', more brooding, but that may be biased as it sounds like good stuff for a movie or a game

i ran it through a few sound effects and that accomplished the effect, but that may not have been your intention :-)
