"Step Over" debugger option F10

Got an idea for enhancing PureBasic? New command(s) you'd like to see?

"Step Over" debugger option F10

Post by USCode »

 In addition to the "Step" option, a "Step Over" option would be very useful with the debugger.

This option would execute the current procedure call but wouldn't step IN to that procedure in the debugger and would keep you in the current source file. I find this VERY handy for stepping over procedures I frequently call and don't need to step in to.

This is a common feature in many other IDEs and is typically key F10.

Overall I really have to compliment the PureBasic team on this new IDE, it offers a terrific mix of simplicity with power. It's not overly busy or frivilously flexible like many of the other IDEs on the market. Just straightforward and powerful but gets out of your way to let you get the job done. Good work!

A step-over feature would indeed be nice..

When i did all the icons for the IDE i did actually draw a step over icon. Who knows why this feature didn't make it into the final IDE. Freak?

It was originally planned for the 3.94 release, but didn't happen because there was no time.
Well, and for 4.0...i simply forgot about it among all the other stuff.

But guess what? I added it today for the next beta ;)

Excellent, thanks Freak! What other development team offers this kind of hands-on and rapid customer support?!?! :)

I think that it will be a very useful and time-saving feature.
