A question for those writing commercial software.

Just having the time to code and in a relaxed atmosphere is of huge benefit!

I couldn't agree more. That's exactly what my current job does not allow and is what I am looking forward to the most. I will not be giving 8 hours a day to programming (at least not at first), but to be able to relax and work away at my own convenience will be a massive leap forward. Heck the only time I've been able to put in some serious programming time during the last year is whilst I've been recuperating from surgery and such like, -which is not entirely satisfactory as you might imagine!

Thats what happens to me when i go to sleep, i think what i should program and improve the current project i am working on which is being delayed sooooooo much because of my job which i work just earn money for living so no time for programming.
i never worked on commercial stuff but i intend to like you srod and i am quitting my job next week to work only on my project, its just like a chance that i take even a big one since i dont have too meny saving i can rely on so i wish you and me much luck

and all PB coders out there that helping one each other, this is the BEST community ever

Depends, have you something specific in mind? Personally, I would never rule it out, especially when you consider how much programming talent there is around these parts.

Several but specifically one for now. I'm about to start a conversion to PB of an app that has been in use in a e-business for nearly six years. So the app's design is tried&tested (the only *two* problems in it's whole lifetime were caused by the user) and the market is growing. I'm not involved in the business anymore but still own the rights to the app. I wrote all of it too.

If anyone's interested in forming a team maybe we all bring one serious idea to the table and cooperate on the development of all of them? Three seems a good manageable number? Forming a company, if/when required, is easy to do but with basic agreements we could just give it a go and see where it leads.

So, I'm wondering if there are any PB'ers around these parts who are managing to earn a living from developing in Purebasic?

Really depends on a lot of variables...

1. Can you write software that is good enough and has enough of a market that you could live off of the $$ you make?

2. What are your financial needs? If you want to live in a house on the beach in Maui, you better be darn good. If you want to earn a more modest living, well you know what I am getting at.

PB is capable of handling most anything, but like any language its main limitation is the programmer doing the coding. It really depends on your skill, talent and dedication.

I guess I am a bad example though, I was working on an ebook program, but switched to Delphi due to PB's having to have the atl.dll distributed with it.
