Actually..... windows does provide a toolbar like this by default.... Enable 'quick launch' on your main start bar, turn off locking, then drag that thing to the left of your screen (or the top, like I do). Now right click it, set it to autohide, large icons and always on top. Tada! A nice toolbar for you to use. You can drag stuff from your desktop onto it. If you drag 'my computer' on it in just the right way, it will have a nice quick file explorer built into it also.

Nice work but I already use the windows method as stated two post above. Oh and the uninstaller doesn't work. I had to manually uninstall it. Keep up the good work! ;)

We didn't like the windows method, hence the creation of rss_bar. Plus, that method only works with XP, and gets rid of the taskbar (I think).

It also works well on PCs where the user cannot edit the windows settings (like network PCs at workplaces...).

Anyhow, here is the current next version list of to-do:
*remove "Get the 2D Shooter Game Creator" extras option
*add resolution changer
*try and detect dragging status of files (no clues yet) so that icons can be added by dragging

We are also going to do something based upon the aforementioned poll.

May i say something wich will make your product fall in at least my taste? The ability to add "feature buttons" where for example when you click one it will show the number of emails on your account. And a newsticker, you know some sort of a "multibar". Well i know its even more work, however THEN it even becomes more usefull for a XP user.

Haven't made it through all the "tutorials" you've already provided - been busy with some re-modeling here at home.

Will undoubtedly need some assistance as I delve deeper. Thanks for the offer and everything you've provided so far. There may be some hope for this old, former programmer, yet :)

cheers

Such dissapointment...

I was hoping rss would stand for rss documents...

But it didn't...
Smartly chosen companyname, though...
Currently coding the unbelievable WFS program...
You'll know it, when it gets released...

You'd be surprised how often that comes up.

Anyhow, we have been secretly working on version 2 of rss_bar. We are definitely adding special token icons like %start%, %shutdown%, %hidestartbar%, %graphicsproperties% ...

However, we are unsure what features to put in. Which of these:

* Horizontal modes
* Flashier graphics & XP transparency
* An extended Run option
* XML documents to add fold-out menus to the icons ??

When did these forums become so unfriendly?

Sparkie, you may want to change the name, since many people will be expecting something to do with Really Simple Syndication.

I think people who does not download programs because it is not allowed to be mirrored, need their heads checked, IMO. The same people should have no problem when... They try to sell their car on their property, and out of the blue, someone tows it away to sell it in a different state. It is exactly the same thing.
