Recommended links/docs

Post by Dare2 »

I can (and have) google(d), but I would also appreciate opinions/recommendations from people here.

If there are flavours, the fedora flavour per preference.

I am looking for:
  • 1: Newbie/Dumbo tutes or info on configuring and using as a programmer.
    • For example, things like:
      • Libraries (or what best matches the windows Api and DLLs)
        Dependencies (or what needs what)
2: Good equivalent(s) to the windows SDK docs.
3: Newbie/Dumbo tutes for setting up FTP and mail servers.
Thanks, gurus!

I found this to be an valuable resource for API:

http://lidn.sourceforge.net/

Also, google "how-to" not "tutorial", since how-to's are the linux term. i.e. "how to setup ftp server on Ubuntu" or something like that. Linux is like french, they've got a different word for everything.

Hi Straker,

Thanks for the link. And Le Tip!

One of the many nice things about these boards is the fact you can get info / advice from people you respect regarding a subject. Thanks again.

Edit: Wow, on first quick glance, that site looks like the mother lode!
