Search the net for BCX (basic to C compiler), Euphoria (the interpreter is free), Ruby (only a interpreter), RepidQ, Digital Mars C, Virtual Pascal, XBasic, GameMaker or the GNU programming tools.
This is only a short list (there is more on the net) so you can see there is a big variety of free programming tools.

Sorry but I can't send you a copy of PureBasic.

Is possible that Leigh locked the profiles only for registers users???

If you really want to code stuff using PureBasic or in other language you should have such stuff as orginal... I dont really know a coder (privatmen or scene people) who have the language as black illegal copy!! If you have any SDK package (C, VB, PB etc) you will get full support and hey... PureBasic is a really great language from a privat men and not from a company... So support fred - the creator of this so powerfull language or get a copy of any other language if you cant buy the original...

Btw i think the latest demos version of PB is really great and there arent so many limitations... For your first projects you can surely use the demo version, isnt it? Make some nice programs as shareware of whatever to get some money for the full version! Please think about it...

Sorry, this is nothing new for me... I never wanted to tell about this topic... Long time ago, i got some ICQ messages from guys (esp. germans, sorry!) who wanted a copy of my full PB package! PLEASE USE THE FREE DEMO VERSION OR BUY THE ORIGINAL AND SUPPORT THE PRODUCT! - THANKS

I have all SDK stuff (c64, amiga, pc) as original and i will never spread a copy of it!

PIII450, 256MB Ram, 6GB HD, RivaTNT, DirectX8.1, SB AWE64, Win98SE + Updates...

If this is the solution the majority would like to adopt, I'm happy to implement it. We'd have to devise a mechanism of validating registered users - Any ideas?

Also, should I make all email addresses in forum profiles non-visible (as mentioned previously)?

As far as I can see, no need at all. If I need to exchange private email details, I usually drop into IRC and then a private room off that where no lurkers can see to intercept me:) That's my 2 cents worth

Hello Stan, I said "IRC", not ICQ. And you can get your system administrator to add access tot he specific port that an IRC client like mIrc uses

Also, one of the good things about IRC (as opposed to ICQ) is tha the system administrator has 'live' protection capabilities and the chat channell can be passworded and restricted if need be:)

This would be the best solution. Fred would have to let Leigh know which users
are registered, but I don't see that as being a problem.

This same guy has asked for copies of Blitz Basic and Blitz 3D - and I've had at least 3 other attempts by "no so good Engrish" people trying to get free copies of development software.

On a great note I haven't seen any pirated copies of PB floating around (I watch major warez traffic trying to see if my own software is being swiped). Blitz, on the otherhand, while enjoying a good year without a leak, was finally plummeted and continues to be every update.

Perhaps we need a nice CANNED response that everyone uses - these people would realize then that we are UNITED in our stand agaisnt it and stop making the rounds.

Easier said than done. Most SysAdmins frown on things like instant messengers, InternetRelayChat, ICQ and EVEN 'Forums'.

I find that hard to believe Fred. Since we are using NASM to do the actual assembling/compiling and we can modify our .asm code before the final product; any 'footprint' you may conceive can be easily circumvented. I am not advocating piracy, but I don't think scare tactics work.[/quote]

I thought Fred meant the PureBasic editor + files, as opposed to authored exes.
That is, if I gave someone my copy of PureBasic, and they uploaded it to a warez
site, then Fred would know it was my copy and then I'd lose all support and get
sued, etc.
