didnt mention sparkie.Dare2 wrote: PS: Re the expert thing. Specialist experts don't count? Sparkie is an expert, no denying it. Sparkie leaves almost everyone for dead with Win Api solutions. But I bet Sparkie doesn't use all the libraries.
What function/feature haven't you used?

Money?? What's that?? Wish I had some. Had plenty of software stolen but never made any money yet.thefool wrote:no flames :=|Is it a problem what the forum depicts me as? Not to me. I am no more an expert that anyone else in these forums but I am a professional. I use the parts of pb that I know, to good effect and get on with the job.
Anyone who doesn't like what the forum calls me has way too much time on their hands and need to put their hands back on the keyboard.
Now let's see the flames fly (evil grin(c) fang corporation)
not complaining just wondering. Why are you a profesional? Because you have an app developed in purebasic you earn money on?
And as many people in the forum would attest (who have tried to explain to me how to do it) , I am too chicken to sell/market my stuff. I personally think I am a beginner but professional in my approach/attitude/research/development when it comes to coding and/or doing a project.
But I am too scared to get into the whole selling thing any more. Many have tried to teach me.

What if you got someone to do the marketing for you? I'm pretty good with marketingFangbeast wrote:And as many people in the forum would attest (who have tried to explain to me how to do it) , I am too chicken to sell/market my stuff. If you haven't used 2D Drawing, how do you draw the grid on the windows and the resize handles on the gadgets in the visual designer?Berikco wrote:2D Drawing,CDAudio,Cipher,Desktop,Library,Math ,Movie

The resize handles are not a drawing, they are an imagegadgetTrond wrote:If you haven't used 2D Drawing, how do you draw the grid on the windows and the resize handles on the gadgets in the visual designer?Berikco wrote:2D Drawing,CDAudio,Cipher,Desktop,Library,Math ,Movie

But you are right, the rubberframe is a box drawing.

I wish I had something worth selling!!! None of the stuff I make is commercial grade sadly. I need more experience and help to get it to that stage. I am more an IT engineer and teacher than I am a coder but thanks for the kind offer.GeoTrail wrote:What if you got someone to do the marketing for you? If I ever get to work with someone who knows what they are doing and it can rub off on me, then it would work. I love my address book software (for instance) but even I wouldn't pay for something that looked like that but have no clue how to make it look 'saleable'

I like your address book program, it's very fast, slick and has a nice and easy to use interface. A few years ago I used a program called MyPhonebook, it cost $10 if I remember correctly, if I were to make a copy of that program in PB it would probably take me a day or less, so you shouldn't critisize your program like that. What a commercial program is or isn't, isn't that in the end up to the user to decide? You could start selling it for $5 or $10 and after time add more advanced features to it and then call that Pro or something and add $5 or something to the price for the Pro version. There are many things you can do to sell a program, wether you as the developer think it's commercial grade or not.

he said it himself when i gave an advice:
(the part in " are my words)

It already does minimize to tray. It uses damn little memory (~850kb minimized to tray, ~1464 opened), and it wouldnt be bad with a little notetaker in the back. And a todolist
No alarm or appointments.
Then i would consider purchasing it heh.

Dont have appointments and alarms etc. Just have a todo list! I simply mean something you can quickly open and write notes in"It should just include the basic things, like Address Book [already done], a TODO list that could feature different projects, i mean multible todo lists, that could be saved on disc etc.
Calendar, just SIMPLE with appointments etc. AND include an ALARM in it i need that for simple stuff. When minimizing it, it should go to thread. You should make it be using the less system recourses you can."
No. It's an address book, no need to bloat it, my name isn't microsoft and there are a gazillion multifunctional programs out there that blow mine into the water.
