Keyboard poll

Post by dagcrack »

Another of my useless polls, this time: keyboards.

It's like a myth already that programmers prefers ye ol' 15 years old metalic chassis windows-less (and almost key-less hehe) keyboard to programm instead of brand new ergonomic comfy massager keyboards..

So, let's see what you programm with!
I apply on all of the poll options exept the old metalic chassis one since I killed that one with juice many years ago.

Coming soon on DogPolls : Mouses, Cases, Screens, And more!

I use a smallish black one that glows blue in the dark. That way I can code all night. :)

Let it be the oldie metalic chassis = laptop keyboards does "sit" over a metalic "chassis" though.

I should of added that, true.. but since I never think about laptops.. (not that I don't like notebooks, just that I don't think about them as often as I should - ?? - ) Anyway I havent slept in 3 days perhaps thats the reason.

Huh? My laptop is made of plastic. Well, it doesn't matter, it'll still work even though I can't vote for it.

No I mean INSIDE.. open it up and you'll see its metal casing, there is no plastic casing laptops as far as I know, they wouldn't support much impact forces (not that you go throwing the laptop against your nighboor's walls though) plus it wouldn't help with heat at all (although now with, for example, Intel M processors are quite cooler than their oldie predecessors).

oh i can answer already!

1: windows. linux is still a bit messy to work with (imho)
2: I have both of course, 2 new laptops actually but i definently prefer my desktop :)
3: remakes my hairy balls! i play the oldest 2d games, and the newest 3d ones! originals, not remakes of old ideas.

The wrist rest is not useless!

It can be removed and used for all sorts of interesting things. Like propping up wobbly tables or throwing at stray dogs.

Hahah and I was the negative here
Well theres a keyboard for every taste, thats for sure! (if not make your own :D ).

But I do like wrist rests...!!! And I do use the shortcut keys (the programmable ones are good, you can launch PB ide by pressing a button! ORGASMIC SENSATION!).

Yes the navigation keys are useless in my opinion (never used them I think the buttons are brand new, want to buy them? ) But for example, my keyboard has a nice volume control which is at easy reach of the left hand I really like that, its comfy.. you dont have to be touching the amplifier's volume, just RUB the keys ( ) and that'll do it. I also have a scroll wheel which is like a dish washer with a... RADIO, totally useless (friggin chinesse stupid inventions...) You'll never use a scrollwheel in a keyboard!! NEVER!!

But MS did a hit about the scrollwheel, they placed it at the middle on some of their newest keyboards, which is good.. others placed it at the left for example, it's stupid! you wont use it if its there..

But I usualy have programmed at the keyboard shortcut keys:

foobar2000 (lite music player.. I don't know if many people here uses it but its perfect for me = no skins taking up 30MB of ram and sucking your procesorrs cycles, there is NO need for such thing.. come on, I dont even have it on top, why would I want all the eye candy.. jeez)

Here's a tip for those Keyboard makers. Have one that LED lites up at night (all keys!) and has 17mm (like my laptop) key travel. Then wrap that all up in a Natural (ergonomic) style and I would buy such on the spot!

Or, has someone a link to such a keyboard?

Yes on most cases its possible to detach them, however most cheaper keyboards doesnt have this option (hey but I've seen $8 generic keyboards with detachable wrist rest.. so its really up to the keyboard design / manufacturer more than price)

i use the regular product of the most evil company in the world :-)

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouse ... px?pid=019

though i have the blue one, not this version... started using it when my wrists started hurting a little, and it definitely helped me, bought three of them so each pc, including the one at work, has one :-)

hmm... i thought they discontinued this type? it's still on their website though...

:? Hehe, I have a "collection" of mouses, even a couple of burnt ones. (Did I mention I once fried a genius mouse after playing Q3 for about 6 hours non-stop back when it just came out to the market?, that was gross, still remember the situation, so funny)

However I can never find a great mouse that fits my needs (needs?), They all have faults either on design or resolution, you name it..

I should make my own, I'll start with a block of lead and get my dremel on  (don't laugh its not a bad way of making a model!, of course you should use alluminium though later on apply some masking so you smooth the surface and build the negatives for the matrix) Okey I need to sleep...

My "femenine parts" mouse will be done some day.. some day..
