Just for fun, who here uses BlitzBasic?

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

Nope, thats not the spirit of this thread! - there as different s chalk n cheese. I started this thread, because I was intrested in learning who used them both.

Just to point something out that they do work in harmony together :) - Purebasic has a mention in the official Blitz FAQ!

Hehe :). I always advice users to take BlitzPC if they only want to do game, as PB doesn't have (for now) all the commands for that. But not so far away :)

Heh heh -- at least Blitz will have some *proper* competition then (unlike the current DarkBasic

"Do you program in Assembler?" she asked. "NOP," I replied.

Hi James,
Another Blitzer here. Hope we're gonna have another BlitzCon soon! As for the company selling B3D -- Guildhall were the company who sold AmiBlitz too :P
Blitz con....Guildhall. This some kind of throwback to RWE?

Obviously I am included here.

I've released two shareware titles (vs.Ball and Kablooey Redux) in BB2D (no 3D for me please). There are three more titles in development (Dino Eggs 2100AD, Meteor Blaster, and Psycho Squares Remix) - hopefully PB will be ready for game programming by the time they are over.

My retro gaming radio show (http://www.retrogamingradio.com) is also coming out with a Year Three archive CD, and I'm using BB to write the user interface for this.

I don't like to split my allegience between two languages - this is why I'm hoping PB gets more gaming stuff in soon. I don't like "use one for this, one for that" ... I prefer to be master of one, not a jack of all trades. If that makes sense.

Since I don't care for the direction BB is going (nor where there management has been and will probably continue to go), PB is a reasonable path to take.

I'm already porting many of my gaming type samples from BB to PB for the opening of the PB Basement. My time has just been crunched lately, which is why the site isn't yet open.

I still love Blitz 2D and wish it would have continued to grow instead of being broadsided with the 3d/pro stuff.

Anyway, that's my take!

Ok, I'm also an old BB Amiga user, but the last time I coded in BB was... 10 years ago? A submarine simulator or something like that which I never finished. After that moved to the PC and haven't heard about BB again until PB XD. I'd like to code games again but, nowadays, if you want to code a decent game you must have a design team, script writers and what not. Seems I'm too old?

Have a nice day,

Yes, you are right! For newbies like me (moved somewhere in Aug2001 from Amiga to Windows/PC) it is really very hard to code/create cool up to date stuff when seeing all this really heavy new 3D games and scene related stuff... I think i moved to late from Amiga to Windows and now i have a lot to up on and i have a lot to learn, esp. in the 3D section!

On Amiga the scene beats the comercial software industry with new effects, design, 3D engines i.e! But on Windows/PC it is absolutly opposite...! Sometimes i asked me self "seems i m to old?" I think nobody is to old for this...

Btw. How old are you (members in this forum)? - Me is 26 years old.. bye

PIII450, 256MB Ram, 6GB HD, RivaTNT, DirectX8.1, SB AWE64, Win98SE + Updates...
