Is there a resource on the web for sound samples to use in games? I've coded my game, created all the graphics, but sound effects are not my strong point.
If there isn't, I'll have to make explosion sound effects with my mouth down the mic like that guy from Police Academy. hehehe.

That would definitely make the game funny!!whertz wrote:If there isn't, I'll have to make explosion sound effects with my mouth down the mic like that guy from Police Academy. hehehe.
I like logic, hence I dislike humans but love computers.
That might work fine actualy!
Just add some effects processing to it, like reverb/echo, tweak the EQ/Freqencies a bit, and try with various other effects. (swee, flanger, distort etc)
And you can turn that vocal explosion to something that sounds awsome,
despite not being "authentic". Don't think authentic, think creative.
Besides, most explosions on TV, movies and games are not authentic anyway. a real explosion recorded and played back unprocessed sound very flat and boring, so they always "color" it some way.
Besides, making it yourself it's cheaper too
Not to mention fun!

Even in scientific documentals about cosmos, when there is simulation of a Super Nova or astros' collisions or even galaxies' collisions, etc. there are explosions sounds, but in fact in the emptyness would only have huge light explosions before the spectator eyes, but no sound; just absolute silence.
Excellent tip! Thank you! I just made a sound effect with my mouth, an alien laser-like sound (!) and simply added an echo to it in Windows sound recorder! It sounds really good. Imagine what can be done with a proper sound editor.Rescator wrote:That might work fine actualy!
